I don't have a social media manager. I have Claude and a free pack of skills.
The pack is called the Instagram agent skill, built by Jake Schincariol and shared for free (open source). I didn't make it. I'm just obsessed with it, so here's exactly how I use it. Here's Jake's repo.
Each skill is a little shortcut you type in Claude, like /ig-reel or /ig-profile, then you just say what you want. It writes, scores and plans. You still hit post. I love that part.
Step 1: Install it
- Open Claude Code. It's the Code tab in the Claude desktop app. The full pack needs it, because a few of the skills run little scoring tools on your computer.
- Paste this in. Copy the prompt below, paste it in and hit enter. Claude does the rest.
- Test it. Type /ig-reel and give it any idea. If you get hooks back with scores, you're in.
Install the Instagram agent skills from https://github.com/Jakeschincariol/instagram-agent-skill into my Claude skills folder. Check the scoring tools run on my computer (they need Python), then confirm /ig-reel works.
Step 2: Teach it your voice
Every skill reads one file about you, called voice.md. This is the ten minutes that makes everything sound like you instead of a robot. You literally say these scripts out loud, so this matters.
Here are three of my own reels or captions that sound the most like me: [paste or transcribe them]. Write my voice.md for the Instagram skills and save it where they look for it. Fill in who I talk to, what I sell, words I use, words I'd never say, my pace and 3 to 5 things I believe that not everyone agrees with. Leave a blank anywhere you're guessing and ask me.
The skills I use most
- /ig-reel gives me 3 hooks, scores them out of 100, then writes the script, the on-screen text and a timed beat sheet.
- /ig-profile grades your profile out of 100 on 12 things, then rewrites the worst bits first.
- /ig-viral finds the reels in your niche doing way better than that account normally does.
- /ig-caption checks your caption before it goes out, including the first line people actually see.
- /ig-human spots anything that sounds like a robot wrote it and cleans it up.
- /ig-plan plans my week: what to post, when, and who to go comment on.
- /ig-reply and /ig-dm help me answer comments and DMs, in the right order.
My week with it
- Monday: plan + research. /ig-plan for the week, /ig-viral to see what's working.
- Shoot day: script. /ig-reel for each idea. I only film the hooks that score strong.
- Before posting: caption. /ig-caption, then /ig-human so it sounds like me.
- Every day: 20 minutes of engaging. /ig-reply on my comments, then real comments on other people's posts.
- Sunday: look back. /ig-audit on what I posted, so next week is smarter.
The 3 rules I post by now
- 125 characters. That's all of your caption people see before "more". Your hook goes there.
- Five hashtags, max. Instagram capped it at five in December 2025. Extras don't count.
- Score the hook before you film. My Day One hook got a 56. Room to grow, babe.
